Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival is proud to support
two nominated charities. In keeping with the aims and aspirations of
the festival, the charities are the Mountain Rescue Committee for Scotland
and the John Muir Trust.
Since the festival began in 2003, approximately £5,000 has been
raised for our nominated charities.
The Mountain Rescue Committee for Scotland is the representative and
coordinating body for mountain rescue services in Scotland. All of us
who venture into the mountains of Scotland owe a huge debt of gratitude
to the voluntary members of the 31 mountain rescue teams and associated
organisations in Scotland who are on stand-by to help out if accidents
occur.

The John Muir Trust was formed in 1983 to protect and conserve wild
places and to increase awareness and understanding of the value of such
places. The Trust works closely with local communities. It believes
that sustainable conservation can only be achieved by recognising special
qualities of wild places and understanding the human factors and other
aspects which contribute to the landscape we think of - and value -
as wild.

Through generous donations by festival attendees
and raffles with prizes donated by festival sponsors, we have raised
around £5000 for these charities from the first five festivals.
A huge thanks goes out to all those who have donated a prize, bought
a raffle ticket or simply made a donation.
If you would like to organise a fund-raising event for either of these
charities, Wilderness
Scotland & Wilderness
Journeys can organise charity challenges. Click on the yellow text
to visit their websites and contact them.
